On March 28, 2014, in the office of the Union of Democrat Meskhs in Akhaltsikhe, Georgian Democracy Initiative held a discussion for journalists about the prohibition of discrimination, the domestic and international standards, and problems related to the culture of tolerance.
The discussion was led by the lawyer of Georgian Democracy Initiative Giorgi Mshvenieradze and theologian Beka Mindiashvili.
The discussion involved representatives of the media outlets in Akhaltsikhe and students of the Faculty of Journalism of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University.
The discussion participants talked about the issues of equality and tolerance, the diversity that exists in the region, and problems related to it, as well as the events that took place in the village of Tchela of the Adigeni Municipality last year and important ongoing issues relating to tolerance in the country.
The discussion was held in the framework of the “Support to the Advancement of Human Rights in Georgia” project which is funded by the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
